The Sorting Algorithm of Tibetan Script

The sorting algorithm of Tibetan script is the basic formula for the automatic sorting of Tibetan characters by computer. yalasoo played a significant role during the process of the study of Tibetan sorting algorithm and the implementation of the algorithm.

Earlier 1996, Tashi Tsering, the director of yalasoo, published a paper entitled "On Tibetan Sorting and Its Algorithm" on the magazine "China Tibetology". This academic paper laid a solid foundation for Tibetan sorting algorithm.

In 2001, Tashi Tsering improved the Tibetan sorting algorithm in the University of Virginia and implemented the algorithm in Java computer programming language. The algorithm was used in the project of Tibet and Himalaya Digital Library of the University of Virginia. In 2007, the algorithm was also used by Microsoft in its Windows operating system for Tibetan.

The research work on Tibetan sorting algorithm was funded by the University of Virginia.
