China National Standard for Information Technology Vocabulary In Tibetan

The standardization of Tibetan information Technology terminologies is a basic work in Tibetan informatization. The Tibetan translation of information technology vocabulary has a certain divergence between regions. It is necessary to unify the Tibetan translation of information technology vocabulary by formulating the national standard of Tibetan information technology vocabulary.

From 2005 to 2007, with the propose of yalasoo, China Research Center for Tibetan Studies organized a group of Tibetan experts and Information technology specialists from organizations from Beijing, Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu and other Tibetan areas, to carry out and complete the Tibetan translation for the vocabulary and the definition of the international standard ISO2382 and national standard GB5271 of information technology vocabulary, and then to formulate the national standard of the Tibetan information Technology Vocabulary. This work laid a solid foundation for the unification of the Tibetan translations of the information technology vocabularies in the future, and to promote the Tibetan education and information construction.

In the process of the formulating of the China National Standard for Information Technology Vocabulary In Tibetan, yalasoo played a decisive role. yalasoo actively promoted and contributed to the work, whose key member Tashi Tsering was the project manager of the standard project. Without yalasoo and its key member Tashi Tsering’s ten years tireless efforts, the standard won’t be able to set out on schedule.

The research project of the China National Standard for Information Technology Vocabulary In Tibetan was funded by China Research Center for Tibetan Studies. The formulation and publication of the standard was supported by the National Standardization Management Committee of China.
