Every year there are many new terms and phrases emerge. For the Tibetan language, there is a lot of new terminologies to be translated from Chinese and English. However, for a long time, there have been differences in Tibetan translations of new term terminologies among different Tibetan areas. Some of Tibetan translations of the new terminologies have not been unified for long time, resulting in chaotic state for some of the Tibetan new term in the socity, affecting the healthy development of Tibetan language. It is very important and urgent to work on neologisms and standardization of the Tibetan translations of new terminologies. The compilation and publication of the Tibetan-Chinese-English New Terminologies Dictionary is a concrete measure and attempt to unify Tibetan neologisms. The dictionary tries to summarize and unify the Tibetan translations of the new terms for the past decade.
This dictionary is the first Tibetan new terms dictionary, which has collected more than 4,800 more that appeared in the past ten years. It is hoped that the publication of the dictionary can play a role in promoting the Tibetan translations of neologisms and its standardization.
