Tibetan-Chinese Kanjur and Tenjur Dictionary

Kanjur and Tenjur is known as the Tibetan Encyclopedia, contains more than 4,500 kinds of classics, covering not only Buddhist classics, commandments, theories, but also involves Tibetan linguistics, poetry, art, logic, astronomy, calendar, medicine, technology, etc.

Compiling a dictionary for Kanjur and Tenjur is a very challenging task, and is of great significance.

5 years ago, yalasoo launched the project of the compilation and publication of the Tibetan-Chinese Kanjur and Tenjur Dictionary, to promote Tibetan language. The publication of Tibetan-Chinese Kanjur and Tenjur Dictionary will be beneficial to people for reading, researching and translating Kanjur and Tenjur.

At present, we are at the first step of the work. We are working on to extract all Tibetan vocabularies from the Kanjur and Tenjur, especially those new words that are not seen in other dictionaries. This step of the work will be completed in 2017, when we will announce the distribution of the vocabularies in the Kanjur and Tenjur. And then we will draw out the corresponding sentences, and organize more experts to complete the codification of the dictionary. It is planned to complete the preparation and publication of the dictionary in 2020. It will take 9 years to finish this project.

The compilation of the Tibetan-Chinese Kanjur and Tenjur Dictionary requires a lot of resource. We welcome any form of funding and support for this project.
