Kanjur Electronic Version of Lijiang Edition

Kanjur has been seen at least 8 editions in history, including the Ming Yongle Edition, Lijiang Edition (also known as Lithang Edition), Beijing edition (also known as Kangxi Edition), Cone Edition, Dege Edition, Narthang Edition, Lhasa Edition and Kulun edition. Almost every hundred years appeared a new version of Kanjur in the history.

Kanjur Lijiang Edition was printed under the supervised and sponsored by Lijiang King Muzeng (also known as Sonam Rabdan) and the sixth Gyalwang Karmaba Chuejee Wangchu. The actual printing work was done in Gyalthang of Yunnan, which is today's Shangri-La county. Later for some reason Lijiang Kanjur had been saved in Lithang Monastery, so it is also called Lithang Edition. The original woodblocks of this Kanjur have been lost. The only copy of the Kanjur that handed down from the past is now saved in Jokhang Temple, the famous temple in Lhasa of Tibet. It is very rarest and very precious collection of Kanjur. In 2012, several photocopies of this collection of Lijiang edition were printed. But so far, ordinary readers still don’t have the opportunity to witness the precious of Lijiang Kanjur from its original print.

In 2016, yalasoo planed to carry out the project of electronic version of Kanjur Lijiang edition. We are planning to organize the Lijiang Kanjur in the form of electronic documents of its original print, and put it on the Internet to share it with the readers of Kanjur around the world.

The electronic version of Kanjur Lijiang edition will be based on the photocopy of the collection of Jokhang Temple, which was printed few years ago. We will enter Kanjur Lijiang edition into computer in text form, and then provide the readers with ultra strong full-text retrieval function to retrieve and read Kanjur (Lijiang Edition) of the total 108 volumes. Tibetan readers will also have the opportunity to recite Kanjur on their own phones, which will be the first time in history.

Kanjur (Lijiang Edition) electronic version project will release two project results: CD-ROM package version and online version of Lijiang Kanjur.

At present, we are still looking for the partners and the support for this project.
